Soccer Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Premier League Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of special visitors.
In the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.
Murs' new album, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Life
Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several charity football games over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their weekend football team," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Forecasts
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this game will be quite close, however. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.
The Hammers' only on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was still Forest manager.
So, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I will go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.
My son told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be quite close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.
Fulham have have lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
As for Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
The away side's display in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
But I am not do that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a poor run... but they have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
