Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position after a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, marking the club's worst run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with results like these.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
